Sen. Harb to deliver van load of petitions to PM calling for end to commercial seal hunt in Canada

(OTTAWA)   Senator Mac Harb will fulfil his promise to deliver almost 40,000 postcard petitions to the Government of Canada calling for an end to the commercial seal hunt by driving a van load of cards to the Prime Minister’s Office at 9:30 a.m., Thursday, June 4, 2009.  The petitions were collected by Canadian business LUSH Fresh Handmade Cosmetics.

“The 38,015 consumers who filled out these petitions and another 9,500 who signed an online petition calling for an end to the commercial hunt are tired of being ignored by the Canadian government,” said Sen. Harb.  “By delivering these postcards by hand, we are hoping that the Prime Minister will get this message once and for all.”

These petitions are part of the 575,000 plus emails, petitions and letters Senator Harb has received in support of his  legislation to ban the Canadian commercial seal hunt.

Senator Harb will load the post cards into a van at the front entrance of East Block at 9:30 a.m.
